This is a great holistic-mission initiative. Gill Poole writes:
Parish Nursing Ministries UK ~ opportunities
Responding to the steady growth of interest in Parish Nursing Ministries UK, the Trust is working to develop resources and to put new opportunities in place. Parish Nursing offers to church teams a combination of health and spiritual care that can bridge the complementary aspects of Christian health and faith nurture. It can allow church teams to be more missional in their pastoral work, and more pastoral in their mission work.
By the start of 2008 ~ over just 4 years ~ Parish Nurse projects have risen to 35 in England and Wales, in a wide range of contexts. On 6 January the Trust is to have a day of celebration and dedication at the Methodist Church, Cawston Lane, Dunchurch, starting with lunch at 12.30 and the service at 2pm.
Wednesday 22 February, 10am to 3pm ~ Study day for the London area.
Westbourne Park Baptist Church, Porchester Road, Paddington, London W2 5DX.
This is for current Parish Nurses and for people interested in Parish Nursing. The keynote session is on Ethical Issues in Parish Nursing, with Dr Trevor Stammers, GP and Lecturer in Healthcare Ethics at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham. For more information or to book a place on the study day email elizabethwelch@westbourneparkchurch.org.uk .
And the next study week is 31 march to 4 April at Dunchurch. This is for registered nurses. If you know of any Christian nurses who would be interested in becoming a Parish Nurse, please give them these links for information:
