Here are the details of the way dioceses used their Mission Development funds from the Church Commissioners in 2008.
"Annex B" gives you a snapshot of what each diocese received and how much of it was spent.
"Annex C" is a more detailed breakdown of expenditure. You'll see the way some dioceses concentrate and focus their funding, where others support a large number of smaller projects. Do talk to missioner colleagues if you feel your own diocese could learn from what theirs are doing.
(Occasionally the two documents don't precisely match up because some dioceses add money of their own to the funds from the Commissioners.)
Please use this information to encourage your own diocesan leadership, and if necessary to challenge it to focus its resources still more effectively by pointing to what other dioceses have done.
The excellent Commissioners' report "Investing in the Church's Growth" (available online here) underlines the value of using these funds proactively to encourage new missional developments. I've commended this report before, but I would direct your attention again to it and in particular to Professor Peter Johnson's most perceptive and helpful introduction.
Warm thanks to Philip James and his colleagues in the (Resource) Strategy & Development Unit for making all this information accessible and available so quickly. All we need to do now is use it!
