Meet Jesus: Book Launch

Dear All 

I wish to commend to fellow missioners my Chichester predecessor John Twisleton’s new book Meet Jesus – a call to adventure which contains group study material and is published next month by Bible Reading Fellowship.

Many Christians know that the person of Jesus should be centre stage, a life changing influence at all levels of activity.  But turning ‘knowing’ into ‘doing’ remains a challenge for us as Church leaders to instil into our congregations.

Drawing on his own faith journey and pastoral experience, John provides real-life practical grounding and clear, realistic advice to help move Christians forward.  Meet Jesus stands apart as an invitation to Christian believing wholehearted about the Church, intellectually rigorous and spiritually inspiring. 

I gladly commend it as serving the forthcoming Christmas focus on Jesus and would suggest there is value in following its group study material in the New Year.  Premier Christian Radio is making it their Lent focus.

Wembley 2012

Over one thousand leaders, gathered in the Great Hall at Wembley Stadium on Saturday September 17, took up the challenge to 'Be The Torch' for UK revival by helping mobilise Christians across the British Isles to fill the stadium for a national day of prayer on September 29th 2012.

Autumn HOPE Gatherings

HOPE could be coming to a town or city near you. Their autumn gatherings will enthuse and inspire local people and facilitate getting together for mission. Mike Pilavachi, Andy Hawthorne and Roy Crowne will share some of the vision, meet with local church leaders and host a celebration. They would love to meet you, hear your stories and you can inspire each other to do more together in word and deed. If you want to hold one in your region, get in touch.

We are pleased to be holding our next HOPE Agencies Forum on November 2^nd. Pastor Agu at Jesus House is kindly hosting the day and Bishop Graham Cray will address our gathering. Our Forums are a chance for representatives from our many partner organisations to contribute to the direction of HOPE and a time for us to encourage each other as we work together united in the purpose of mission. We are delighted that our partnerships with the Black Majority churches are continuing to develop. Please pray for wisdom as the leadership team and the agencies meet.

Lectures at St John's Nottingham - Autumn 2011

College Lectures – Autumn 2011 at St John's Nottingham

College Lectures happen at 12.05 every Wednesday during teaching term, and are part of the learning programme for all students. This term we have some exciting visitors!  The events are open to local people (or not so local if you are willing to travel!). Places must be booked and paid for in advance please.

 9th Nov          Ray Pentland: Prayer, Presence and Proclamation - the theological, pastoral and political challenges of ministry to a public institution

 Ray joined the RAF in 1990, and in 2009 became the 21st Chaplain in Chief of the Force. An alumni of St John's, he writes and lectures widely on his research subject of Military Ethics and Values Education.

 7th Dec          Jon Kuhrt: a response to the Marital Affairs website issue

Jon is Director of the Community Mission in London - a partnership started by Tearfund and Livability. In 2010 his campaign to remove billboards promoting extra marital affairs attracted national press attention.

 14th Dec        Jennie Collins: God's Mission, Our Responsibility

Jennie is a founder member of the Micah Network and its Asia regional Co-ordinating Group. Until 2009 she worked with United Mission to Nepal (UMN) in Kathmandu.

 Cost: Lecture only £6 per person. Lecture and lunch £12.
