College Lectures – Autumn 2011 at St John's Nottingham
College Lectures happen at 12.05 every Wednesday during teaching term, and are part of the learning programme for all students. This term we have some exciting visitors! The events are open to local people (or not so local if you are willing to travel!). Places must be booked and paid for in advance please.
9th Nov Ray Pentland: Prayer, Presence and Proclamation - the theological, pastoral and political challenges of ministry to a public institution
Ray joined the RAF in 1990, and in 2009 became the 21st Chaplain in Chief of the Force. An alumni of St John's, he writes and lectures widely on his research subject of Military Ethics and Values Education.
7th Dec Jon Kuhrt: a response to the Marital Affairs website issue
Jon is Director of the Community Mission in London - a partnership started by Tearfund and Livability. In 2010 his campaign to remove billboards promoting extra marital affairs attracted national press attention.
14th Dec Jennie Collins: God's Mission, Our Responsibility
Jennie is a founder member of the Micah Network and its Asia regional Co-ordinating Group. Until 2009 she worked with United Mission to Nepal (UMN) in Kathmandu.
Cost: Lecture only £6 per person. Lecture and lunch £12.
