There is much news to tell you...
Firstly, as those of you at the conference will know, the lovely Laura Caddell will be leaving us to start training as a midwife with Nottingham University from September. (I know she was delighted by the gift that we gathered for her at Merville) and I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to her again for all that she has done for us as a network.
But not to fear, Suzie Wall is taking over tomorrow, so we are in capable hands! Suzie is married to Chris, lives in Sheffield and attends St Thomas Crookes. She has been working with NJC (Nicola James Communications) for a year, and has a first class degree in Hospitality Business Management with Conferences and Events. So a BIG WELCOME to Suzie. Please send any enquiries to [email protected].
Secondly, I joined the NCI's part-time as the Associate National Mission and Evangelism Adviser in Feb 2008, I have been the Acting NMEA (since last Sept when our wonderful Paul Bayes moved to higher things) and I am to be "The" NMEA full-time from September! Thank you all for your support and encouragement during this time of transition. I'm looking forward to the new things that September will bring!
For those of you who were at the conference in Merville below are a couple of snaps to remind you of our wonderful time together!
We can now also give you the link to the website with all the conference downloads: http://starttheweek.typepad.com/missionersconference2011 For those of you who weren’t with us, you can download these and share the experience. We’re sorry for the delay in getting these to you. For some reason it took 8 attempts before the blog would accept the recording of Robin (Gamble)’s session, but we finally got there!
A few important dates for your diary!!!!!
Mission Communities
One more date…. Please ring fence March 28th and 29th 2012: on one of these days (just awaiting confirmation) somewhere in the country we will meet with +Graham Cray, Chris Neal of CMS, Ian Mobsby of MOOT, a representative from Church Army and some wonderful people with experience of real life in mission orders to look at the way forward for mission communities where you are.
In July 2012 a report will come to Synod that will help point the way forward for mission communities to be formed across the country and for new orders to be created to facilitate this. Some will join up naturally with CMS or Church Army but others might be diocesan initiatives that you might want to help facilitate? This will release hundreds of people with a shared vision for mission to serve in communities across the country. That's the plan, but we will need to be the ones to make the vision a reality especially in each diocese. So keep those dates free and we'll keep you posted!
That really is it for now….. I'm going away for a few weeks and we'll re-start STW in September! It will have a new name as well: "Mission Mailing" so that it is appropriate to whenever it arrives.
Have a wonderful summer break and see you all soon,
Rachel

A few important dates for your diary!!!!!
Missioners New Year Gathering.
This will take place in 2 venues, in the south on the 11th January where Bishop John is kindly hosting us at his house in Staverton and in the north on the 18th January where the Church Army are kindly hosting us at the Wilson Carlisle Centre their new home in Sheffield.
Please do come to whichever one works for you, or both if you want to! We really look forward to having some more time together to work together, eat together and pray together.
The days will run from 11.30 - 3.00.
Missioners Conference
We have decided to bring the missioners conference home next year… just to try it for a year. This is to enable those who really can't be with us in France.
So we are going to try Scalford Hall from 17th - 19th July.
We can always return to Merville in 2013 and then swap backwards and forwards to give everyone in the network a chance to be with us.
